Elfen Lied is the story of a girl named Lucy who, when attempting to escape from an institution for deadly psychic criminals known as diclonius, gets shot in the head, making her forget everything about who she is, how to talk, and how to do anything but utter the word "Nyuu." When she is found by Kouta, Nyuu (as everyone calls her) is adopted into his house and as things progress, Kouta's cousin Yuka moves in as well since teaching a girl to do everything seemed to not be Kouta's forté.
