Edward and Alphonse Elric, two brothers and alchemists, travel together as state alchemists or"dogs of the military" to gain something they have lost. When they tried to bring back their mother, a human transmutation, Ed and Al lost various parts of their bodies. Ed lost his right arm and leg as a last minute resort to save his brother, Al, by taking Al's soul and putting it into a suit of armor, and , of course, Al lost his body. The brothers search for the philosophers stone in hope to regain their bodies which they have lost.
